Emera Energy
Established in 2002, Emera Energy (EE) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Emera Inc. and has the first and only full service energy marketing operation in Atlantic Canada. EE brings a diverse and specialized level of expertise in gas and power to clients, with a customer portfolio that includes energy producers, wholesalers, distributors, marketers and utilities. While EE participates in both physical and financial markets, its strategic focus is that of a physical, low-to-medium risk shop with primary trading commodities being natural gas and electricity. EE’s primary commercial focus is the contiguous Northeastern markets including the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario, New England and New York.
With a relatively flat management structure, EE has approximately 30 staff that includes a Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office. This structure is consistent within our industry and ensures there is a clear separation of responsibilities. The Front Office transacts the company’s commercial activities; the Middle Office ensures proper governance and risk management; the Back Office is responsible for finance and accounting.
Located in downtown Halifax, EE has a high paced, dynamic environment. The office has an open design to encourage and facilitate easy and immediate information exchange. With customer relationships and its entrepreneurial spirit core to its success, the environment is collaborative and supportive to those in front-line delivery positions. Unique in its culture, “work hard, play hard” would definitely apply.
