Financial Consultant
Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is pleased to be part of Canada's only Corporate Residency MBA at Dalhousie University and to offer a challenging and rewarding opportunity as Financial Consultant. In this role, the student will have the opportunity to learn about the organization while providing financial, program and service analysis. While working as part of the Financial Services team, the Financial Consultant will be mentored by an experienced and dedicated group of professionals in the fast-paced and energetic environment of municipal government.
The Financial Consultant’s emphasis will be on supporting the rollout of a new Capital Budgeting platform, which requires engineering and finance skills. The role will help the other Financial Consultants communicate more effectively with the Engineering/Technical people involved in the process. The candidate will learn about capital budgeting from the finance side, spreadsheets and databases, and tangible capital asset accounting and budgeting. Ideally, the student will utilize the skills learned to date and apply those in real-world situations, with coaching and mentoring readily available.
