Official Transcripts/Academic History
We require two official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended to be sent directly from the institution to Corporate Residency MBA office. All transcripts (including English translations) must bear the official stamp or seal of the issuing institution and must be forwarded directly to the Program Office. Transcripts that state “issued to student” are not acceptable.
It is the policy of Dalhousie University to confirm the authenticity of transcripts and letters of reference of all accepted applicants.
Personal Essay
The personal essay offers applicants an opportunity to express their value proposition. It is one of the criteria the selection committee will use to make a decision on whether you are an acceptable candidate for the program. Consider the following in preparing your essay:
- Start with a thought-provoking opening that will draw the reader into your essay.
- What personal characteristics, attributes or values do you have that may enhance your chances for success?
- What are your career aspirations?
- Make this an honest portrayal of who you are.
- Edit your document (especially for typos).
- Limit your essay to 2000 words.
- Include your typewritten essay with your application package.
Letters of Reference
Two academic letters of reference are required. (If you have been working three or more years, please supply one professional and one academic letter of reference.) These are to be completed by the referees, placed in envelopes, sealed and endorsed across the seal. They can be included with your application forms or mailed separately to the Corporate Residency MBA Program Office. Please note: All references are confidential and cannot be opened by the applicant.
Applicants must submit a profile as part of their application. A profile is a brief summary of your curriculum vitae or résumé that will grab the reader's attention. Your profile should be 150-200 words and written in the third person. The end result should illustrate commitment to your chosen field of study and state what you hope to obtain from your corporate residency work experience (details on writing a profile and sample profile).
Official GMAT Scores
Each candidate is required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Test results are valid for five years. Complete information on the GMAT, including testing locations and dates in each country, and how to register, can be found at http://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT
Official TOEFL or IELTS Scores
Official TOEFL scores are also required for candidates whose undergraduate instruction was not conducted in English. Please note that TOEFL scores are valid for two years; if a TOEFL score is older than two years, the test must be re-taken. For more information on the TOEFL, visit www.toefl.org. Please note that we also accept IELTS.
